Foresight User's Guide

Welcome to Foresight!

Thank you for purchasing the Foresight music app! It's because of people like you that we're able to keep doing what we love: bringing you Hi Fi  software and proselytizing for our favorite bands.

Foresight has been around for a few years, but apparently you're only learning about it now. You probably live in a flyover state, so you're forgiven. What do people talk about in your state anyway? I mean, once you get away from the coasts, there's a com-PLETE culture void. Don't know how you do it. Anyway, on with the guide.

What is Foresight?

Foresight is an application you can install on your phone through iTunes (sorry Android users, you should get a phone that just works). It records songs playing out loud and identifies them via our bleeding-edge algorithms. Whether they're at the hookah bar, getting their ears gauged, or ironically eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken, our users can use Foresight to identify a song they like playing over the radio!

OK, But Why Foresight?

You're right, Foresight isn't the first app to do this. You probably want to know why you should spend your money on our homegrown, grassroots app rather than some mass-produced plastic product. Well, not only does Foresight tell you what song you're listening to, it also:

  • Tells you why it's awful, and
  • Recommends bands that are WAY better that you've probably never heard of.

Wow, How Does it Work?

While you're sitting on the couch, watching some mindless drivel, we have a staff of knowledgeable editors scouring coffee shops, local gigs, and jam sessions all around the east and west coasts, ensuring that we find the best music in the country for you. Our proprietary systems then extract metadata from the editors' reviews (published in local free press distributions), which then gets presented back to you in hopes of improving your awful taste in music.
Their best stuff is live. Gordon was just wailing for a good twenty minutes on his recorder.

We also encourage you to leave feedback on the music we recommend! You can rate the individual songs and leave comments. Once a song reaches about 20% market saturation, it will be automatically flagged for our editors, so they can find some new music that hasn't totally sold out.

Thanks again for your support!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't Foresight recognize some songs?
Foresight is aimed at enhancing your musical appreciation. In some cases, this is completely impossible. If you use Foresight on a Taylor Swift song, what do you expect it to do? You're not even on the same PLANE as Foresight. To fix this issue, you can slightly increment your taste in music until Foresight can stand to recognize whatever you're listening to.

All the songs I try are rated as "Utter Crap". Is this a bug?
Nope.

I bought Foresight and returned it, but I'm still waiting for my refund.
Hey man, that's not a question. Besides, we're totally good for it. We'll get it to you after that thing this weekend.

The music Foresight recommends sucks!
Whatever, you clearly don't have a refined enough taste to appreciate what we have to offer. Go back to your bubblegum-pop, commercial-driven radio stations, you sheep.

Special thanks to Mick for recommending hipster, awful, and completely fake band names.

The following site doesn't know their image folder is being indexed. Of course, what can you expect from a site whose main content page is called "template.asp"?
